Introduced in Italy Transesophageal echocardiography and intraoperative echocardiography (1988)
Described an original method to produce ultrasound contrast agents (1992)
Demonstrated the feasibility of non-invasive myocardial opacification with self-produced ultrasound contrast agents (1993-1995)
Demonstrated imaging of the retinal arteries and anterior spinal artery, which are sensitive markers of central nervous system perfusion in cardiac and aortic surgery
Developed an original method to detect false lumen perfusion during surgical repair of aortic dissection
