Luca Mazzei (PH.d) is an Assistant professor Film Studies researcher under the department of “Beni Culturali, Musica e Spettacolo” of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. The core of his research is focused on the integrations between filmic materials and documental sources in the study of Italian Cinema. Since 1998, he has published several essays on such journals as “Bianco & Nero”, “Studi Novecenteschi”, “Comunicazioni sociali”, “Cinema & Cie”, “Immagine. Note di Storia del Cinema”, “Panta”, “Agalma” and on many collective volumes. He’s also involved in the Storia del Cinema Italiano, published by the “Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia”. He had worked for “Festival dei Popoli. International Documentary Filmfestival”, between 1990

and 2000. He is in charge of the Film Section of the Film Photography Archive of the Italian Army, on behalf of the “Dipartimento di Scienze storiche, filosofico-sociali, dei beni culturali e del territorio” of the University of Tor Vergata (Rome). He has recently organized the international conference The imagined war – The rising of media culture and the Libyan war (1911-1912), with G. Spagnoletti (Roma, 2011) and the film screenings The war seen form afar, on the documentary footage filmed during the Libyan war (Roma, 2011; with S. Berruti).
