Nata nel 1969 ha conseguito nel 1992 la Laurea con lode in Scienze Biologiche presso Università di Roma “La Sapienza”;
La sua attività di ricerca è stata incentrata in ambito biochimico, in particolare sulla produzione e caratterizzazione strutturale e funzionale di proteine/enzimi coinvolte nei processi di detossificazione cellulare e metallopeptidi ad attività antibatterica. Gran parte della sua ricerca è stata volta allo studio della struttura e funzione delle proteine. Da alcuni anni il suo campo d’interesse si è spostato sulla messa punto di sistemi 3D a base di idrogel proteici per la crescita di cellule staminali adulte. Inoltre ha dedicato la parte della sua attività di ricerca allo studio dei composti organici naturali a lento rilascio di H2S al fine di valutarne gli effetti su particolari pathway metabolici coinvolti nei processi di crescita ed il differenziamento cellulare. Al momento è coautrice oltre 90 pubblicazioni scientifiche su riviste internazionali, tra cui quattro “invited reviews”.
Nella gran parte dei suoi lavori risulta essere primo ultimo oautore corrispondente. Ha inoltre partecipato a diversi congressi nazionali ed internazionali. H index= 38 (Scopus).
E’ stata la Responsabile dei seguenti Accordi Internazionali per ricerca e scambio di studenti firmati tra l’Università di Roma Tor Vergata e le seguenti Università:
