Nato a Roma nel 1951 ha conseguito la maturità scientifica nel 1970-1971. Si è laureato il
13/10/1976 riportando una votazione finale di 110/110 e lode.
Negli anni accademici 1976-1977 e 1977-1978 ha svolto le esercitazioni relative al corso di Igiene
per Sc. Biologiche.
Nel settembre 1977 ha partecipato presso l'Università di Parma ad un corso su microtecniche .
Nell'ottobre 1977 è risultato idoneo a due concorsi per borse di studio bandite dal CNR: bando n.
201.4.10 del 27/10/77 e n.201.4.12 del 27/10/77.
Nel 1978 è risultato vincitore di una delle borse di studio annuali messe a disposizione dalla
Fondazione Cenci-Bolognetti, grazie alla quale si è potuto recare presso l'Institut Pasteur du
Brabant-Bruxelles (Belgio). Nello stesso periodo ha avuto la possibilità di frequentare il laboratorio
di Virologia, diretto dal Dr. J. Content, presso lo stesso Istituto Pasteur.
Dal settembre 1981 al settebre 1982 ha trascorso un periodo di lavoro presso l'Università di New
York ad Albany (Postdoctoral Fellow) nel laboratorio diretto dal Prof. C. Baglioni (grant del
National Institute of Health).
Nell'ottobre 1984 è risultato vincitore di un concorso a tre posti di Ricercatore presso l'Università
di Tor Vergata-Dipartimento di Sanità Pubblica, Cattedra di Igiene.
Nel Novembre 1987 ha conseguito la Specializzazione in Microbiologia con il massimo dei voti e
lode.
Il 10-13/11/1997 e 19-22/4/1988 ha tenuto un corso sulle acque presso l’Istituto Superiore di
Sanità.
Nel 1988 è stato invitato come esperto alla giornata di studio “Lo smaltimento dei rifiuti liquidi alla
luce delle normative vigenti e delle attualità tecnologiche”.
Nel periodo 10-27/5/1989 ha trascorso un soggiorno presso il laboratorio di Microbiologia
dell'Università di Barcellona - Dipertimento di Microbiologia Prof. J. Jofre.
E’ stato invitato in qualità di esperto al seminario:” Risques epidemiogenes lies a l’utilisation des
eaux residuraires et des boues”, 7-8/3/1989.
In collaborazione con i Prof. Deloince, Prof. Peres, Prof. Lucena, Prof. Bosch, Prof. Jofre, Prof.
Schwartzbrod ha scritto un libro sulla Virologia Ambientale dal titolo: Virologie du milieu hydrique.
Il 29/10/1991 è stato invitato in qualità di esperto alla Giornata di studio sul controllo
microbiologico delle acque ed il 6/12/1991.
Nel periodo 1991-1996 è stato coordinatore di un progetto per lo sviluppo del Medical Research
Institute di Alessandria, Egitto, Ministero per gli Affari Esteri.
In data 21/2/1992 ha organizzato e partecipato al Congresso "Simposio europeo di Virologia
ambientale; mentre è stato invitato come esperto al XXI Congresso nazionale della Associazione
Microbiologi Clinici Italiani tenutosi a Bari il 4-7/10/1992.
Dal 21/7 al 20/8/1992 si è recato presso il Medical Research Institute di Alessandria, Egitto, nel
quadro del progetto “Epidemiologia delle infezioni a trasmissione idrica”.
E’ stato invitato a tenere una conferenza nel Congresso:” Nuove metodologie nella diagnostica
microbiologica” (1992).
Nella IV Conferenza Nazionale di Sanità Pubblica (14-16/10/1993) è stato invitato a tenere una
confernaza dal titolo "Diagnostica nell'ambiente" nel quadro di "Epatite A: nuovi sviluppi per una
malattia antica".
Dal 28/5 al 26/7/1993 si è recato presso il Medical Research Institute di Alessandria, Egitto, nel
quadro del progetto”Epidemiologia delle infezioni a trasmissione idrica”.
Ha iniziato una collaborazione esterna in qualità di esperto di virologia Ambientale per l’Albania
finanziato dall’UNICEF e il Ministero degli Affari Esteri (1993).
Dal 6 al l’8/11/1995 si è recato presso l’institut Pasteur di Parigi, Prof.J. Pillot.
Ha iniziato una collaborazione con l’Istituto per la Nutrizione sulle Piante per la stesura di
metodiche relative all’utilizzo di acque reflue in agricoltura (1993).
Ha collaborato con l’Istituto Superiore di Sanità per la stesura di metodiche relative alla ricerca dei
parametri accessori (C4).
Ha iniziato una collaborazione con il Ministero dell’Ambiente per la messa a punto di linee guida
per il riutilizzo delle acque reflue trattate in agricoltura (1999).
E’ stato invitato a tenere una conferenza dal titolo:” Valutazione della presenza del virus
dell’epatite A in matrici ambientali”, Istituto Superiore di Sanità 18/5/1999.
Dal 28/6 al 2/7/1999 ha tenuto un corso presso l’Università di Quilmes (Argentina) dal titolo
“Hepatitis A virus detection and molecular analisys”, nel quadro di un progetto European Union
(INCO DC, ERB3514PL973098).
A partire dal Novembre 2000 è divenuto professore associato non confermato presso la Cattedra
di Igiene dell’Università di Tor Vergata.
A tutt’oggi il Dott. Maurizio Divizia è titolare di diversi fondi di ricerca, partecipa attivamente a
diverse ricerche anche in collaborazione con altri enti di ricerca italiani e stranieri, ed è titolare di
diversi incarichi di insegnamento in corsi di Laurea, Scuole di Specializzazione e Diplomi
Universitari. E’ responsabile del Gruppo di Virologia Ambientale della Cattedra di Igiene, nel quale
coordina un gruppo di ricerca costituito da 2 tecnici laureati e 2 tecnici diplomati
Il Dott. Maurizio Divizia è stato ed è titolare di diversi fondi personali di ricerca finanziata dal CNR,
MURST. E’ stato titolare di un fondo CNR, progetto bilaterale con la Francia (Prof. R.Deloince). A
partire dal 1993 è stato titolare di un Progetto Finalizzato CNR dal titolo: "Controllo dell'epatite
infettiva nell'ambiente e profilassi immunitaria nell'uomo".
A partire dall'anno 1989 è titolare di contratti relativi a Fondi per la ricerca scientifica, quota 60%,
M.U.R.S.T. Dal 1991 al 1997 è stato coordinatore di un progetto per lo sviluppo del Medical
Research Institute di Alessandria d'Egitto, Ministero per gli Affari Esteri. Dal 1991 coordina una
ricerca sulla qualità delle acque potabili finanziato dall’ACEA-Roma. Nel 1996 ha coordinato un
fondo del Ministero della Sanità per la ricerca dei Poliovirus ambientali. Negli anni 1997/98 e
1998/99 è stato titolare di un Fondo 1% per la Ricerca finanziato dall’Istituto Superiore di Sanità.
Nell’anno 1998/99 partecipa ad un Fondo 1% per la Ricerca finanziato dall’Istituto Superiore di
Sanità. Nell’anno 2004-2005 è stato Subcontractor in un progetto della Comunità Europea
nell’ambito del 6° programma coordinato, per la parte italiana, dal Dott. Valter Tandoi del CNR di
Roma. Nell’anno 2007-2009 ha partecipato al Contratto Europeo COST 929.
Negli anni 2006-2009 è stato Presidente del corso di laurea triennale per Tecnici della Prevenzione
nell’ambiente e nei luoghi di lavoro.
Fa parte della commissione didattica del corso di Laurea in Odontoiatria in Tor Vergata e del corso
di Laurea in Odontoiatria presso l’Università di Nostra Signora del Buon Consiglio a Tirana, Albania.
E’ autore e/o co-autore di oltre 140 pubblicazioni di cui circa la metà su riviste italiane ed estere.
Prof. M. Divizia was born in Rome in1951 and he took his scientific high school degree in 1970-71 and the biological degree in1976 with the maximum with lauda.
In the academic years 1976-77 and 1977-78 he organised the student training for the hygiene course in Biological Science.
In 1977 he followed a micro-technique course in Parma, Italy. In 1977 he won two competitive examination at The National Centremfor Research. In 1978 he won an
annual grant of the Fondazione Cenci-Bolognetti to go for one year for the Institute Pasteur of Brabant-Bruxelles (Belgium). During this period he worked in the Dr.
J. Content's laboratory. In the period September 1981 until
September 1982 he had a grant from the NIH (National Institute of Health) to spend as Postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Prof. C. Baglioni at the New York
University at Albany (New York). In 1984 he won a competitive examination as Researcher at the Tor Vergata University, Department of Public Health, Faculty of
Medicine.
In 1987 he became a Master degree in Microbiology with the maximum cum lauda.
In 1988 and 1989 he had two courses at the High Institute of Health, and in 1988 he was invited as specialised in environmental virology.
In 1989 he was for 15 days in the Microbiology Laboratory at the Department of Microbiology, University of Barcelona, Prof. J. Jofre.
In cooperation with Prof.s. Deloince, Peres, Lucena, Bosch, Jofre, Schwartzbrod he wrote a book on evinronmental virology: Virologie du Milieu Hydriques.
During the period 1991-1996 he was coordinator for the project for the improvement of Medical Research Institute in Alexadria, Egypt for the Italian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs. He spent one month in the Medical Research Institute in 1992 and two months in 1993.
In 1992 he organised and participated at the First European Symposium on Environmental Virology.
During the Fourth National Conference on Public Health (1993) he had a conference on Environmental diagnosis for Hepatitis A virus.
In 1993 he started a collaboration, still in progress, with the Institute of Public Health in Tirane during an UNICEF project, whereas in 1995 he spent few days in the
laboratory pf Prof. J. Pillot, Institute Pasteur, France.
In 1993 he started a cooperation with the "Istituto per la nutrizione delle piante" to prepare a book for standard methods to be applied in environmental virology; at
the same time he wrote the official lines to be applied for the C4 parameters in drinking waters.
In 1999 he had a course on hepatitis A virus in Environmental Virology, whereas in June 1999 he had a course on Hepatitis A virus detection and molecular analysis
at the Quilmes University, Argentina in the European Project INCO DC, ER3514PL973098.
Starting from November 2000, he became Associated Professor in Hygiene at then University of Tor Vergata. The Prof. Divizia had several courses in Hygiene and in
particular in School of Nursing, Specialisation School of Hygiene,
Dentistry, and Engineering, he has project with different University and Institutes in Italy and outside, he has the coordinator of the Environmental Virology at the
Hygiene Chair at the Tor Vergata University.
The Prof. Divizia had several grants from University, National Centre of Research, MIUR, a bilateral Project with Prof. R. Deloince,a project FATMA (CNR).In 1991
for several years he was financed by ACEA-Roma for the virological analysis of drinking waters. In 1996 he had a grant from the Ministry of Health to analyse the
presence of poliovirus in the environment, in the 1998-99 he participated to a project called 1% grant for the Research financed by the High Institute of Health.
In 1998 he had a scientific research project from the MIUR entitled:"Viral enteric hepatitis: epidemiology, environmental diffusion and molecular biology". Head of
the project was Prof. Panà. In 1999 he had a grant with Prof. Volpi from the ISPELS: "Electro and electromagnetic fields in vitro, genomic expression and
cytomegalovirus reactivation". DIBIA/B50. In 2000 Prof. Divizia had a grant from the Chambre Syndacale des eaux minerals francaise". In 2000 he was co-author of
a PRIN entitled:" Molecular epidemiology odf the enteric hepatitis". Head of the project was Prof. Panà.
In 2001 he has participated to write the book" Methods for the analysis for the water to be used n agriculture". Coordinator Prof. Mecella, Franco Angeli Editor for
the "Istituto per la nutrizione delle piante".
In 2001 he had a project from the ISPELS entitled: "Exposure to the HAV, HEV, Calicivirus and Poliovirus of the wastewater workers". Research n.B/19/DIL/01. In
2001 he had a grant from the Zooprofilattic Institute Latium and Tuscania entitled:" Molluscans for human consumption", whereas in 2002 he had a grnt from the
Zooprofilattic Institute of Sardinia entitled: virus in molluscans, genomic correlation with the human cases". In the period 2002-2004 he had a grant from LaboratoRI
(ACEA) for the virological analysis on cell culture and RT-PCR using the wastewaters.
In 2003 he was co-author of the PRIN:"Molecular epidemiology of the viral enteric infection". Head of the project was Prof. Panà.
In 2004 he had Community European project in the 6° framework, head Prof.D. Kay: "Methods for concentration and detection Adenovirus and Norovirus in
European bathing waters with referent to the revision of bathing water directive 76/160/EEC. Virobathe.
In 204-2005 he was subcontractor in the 6° European Community project, head fot the Italian counterpart Dott. Tandoi, National Research Council. Starting from
2007 he has member of the COST 929 (Coordinator Prof. Nigel Cook).
In 2004 he wrote a book for the Italian Society of Hygiene: Molecular methods in public health". Editor. G. Giammanco and S.De Flora. He has cooperated to the
preparation of the "Analytical methods for the drinking waters: Microbiological methods", ISTISAN 07/5. He was charged by the European Community to teach in a
project "Master International en Technologies Biomedicales (MITBM), Director Proof.Paul Jacobs. IN February 2008 he has a meeting on nanomaterial in the CDC
laboratory - National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Morgantown (USA). He has staff od the Master in Environmental Hygiene and in Preventive
Medicine and Therapy.
In 2005 he had a Unit in the PRIN, head Prof. Coppola, " New vaccine and epidemiological knowhow for their application".
Actually, he has two official courses in Hygiene in Dentistry and Envionmental Hygiene in Environmental Engineering. Starting from 2007 he has President of degree
course in Technician for the prevention in the working area and environment".
He has Author and co-Author of more of 140 papers on Italian and foreign journals.
